Project Restore

Fifth Quarter Civic Association

Award Date: July 22, 2025
Awarded: $34,100

Fifth Quarter is dedicated to increasing representation and diversity in the fire and emergency medical service fields in the OKC metro by introducing the career of firefighting to the black community and inspiring the next generation of firefighters. Through its recruitment program, it provides mentorship, education, and hands-on experience to youth and adults. These programs help individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue a career in public safety. Project Restore involves renovating, preserving, and upgrading the existing building that the agency has acquired (Old Fire Station 18) for its current use in recruitment and mentorship. The primary goal is to modernize the facility to meet current operational needs while attempting to retain its original character and historical integrity. The restoration project aims to create a safe and functional space for 5th Quarter Members to study for promotion exams and certifications such as Paramedic and Urban Search and Rescue. This building is the location for agency meetings, mentorship programming for kids interested in the fire service, and test and interview prep for adults in the hiring process to become full-time firefighters.
