Reach Out and Read is a pediatric literacy program that partners with doctors to “prescribe” books and encourages families to read together. Tragically, children from low-income families often enter school less prepared to learn, and many of them never catch up. Therefore, Reach Out and Read efforts target these children from economically disadvantaged homes.
