Poetic Justice’s mission is to offer restorative writing and creative arts programs to individuals who are incarcerated in women’s prisons and jails. In trauma-informed work, one must first feel safe in order to first access trauma, use creative writing, art, and meditation tools to process trauma-related emotions in such a way that they no longer trigger the fight or flight response or lead to feelings of shame and self-doubt. Poetic Justice offers this program at both Eddie Warrior Correctional Center and Mabel Bassett Correctional Center.
