Poetic Justice’s mission is to offer restorative writing and creative arts programs to individuals who are incarcerated in women’s prisons and jails. They offer creative writing and arts classes, as well as in-person and distance learning options. The Narrative Project went into both Oklahoma women’s prisons to lead a self-portraiture project called Voices on the Inside. Individuals focused on finding their voice as a writer, isolating and processing trauma, and building self-confidence and worth over the span of a one-year course. These portraits will be displayed at various exhibits across the country over the next year.
